Stem Cell Hair Regrowth

STEM CELL HAIR REGROWTH

The Body Perfect Cosmetic Clinic provides various advance regenerative stem cell treatments to recover, repair and rejuvenate damaged cells of your body, especially the hair follicle on your scalp.

WHAT IS STEM CELL TREATMENT?

Stem cells are tiny progenitor cells found in our body that can be divided (through mitosis) and changed (differentiate) into various cell types. All cells in our body are constantly dividing and forming new ones; the new cells age gradually and then die. The natural physiologic process of programmed cell death is known as apoptosis. Your stem cells are your body’s natural healing cells that act as your repair system in your body by replenishing adult tissues.

WHO SHOULD OPT FOR STEM CELLS TREATMENT?

People looking for permanent hair loss prevention procedures and for an effective hair growth treatment can opt for the stem cell treatment.

Recent research has proven that follicle stem cells lead to successes in treating baldness through activation of the stem cells progenitor cells, as hair follicles also contain stem cells. Stem cell treatment activates the existing stem cells on the scalp. Later, the treatment signals the follicle stem cells to trigger chemical signals to nearby follicle cells that are shrunk during the aging process, which in turn respond to these signals by regenerating and making healthy hair. Most recently, the University of California has claimed to have proven that stem cell therapy led to a significant and visible improvement in follicular hair growth.

Stem cells have the potential to treat conditions such as spinal cord injury, heart attacks, strokes, sports injuries, blindness, cancer, diabetes, multiple sclerosis, bones and cartilage damage.

FUNCTION OF STEM CELLS

Repair system for the body

Replenish adult tissue

Differentiate into specialized cells

Cellular regeneration

WHAT ARE THE EXPECTED RESULTS?

With the stem cell treatment, critical proteins are delivered to hair cells by avoiding factors that halt new hair growth. This results in productive hair growth with the enhancement of the scalp with stem cells. Evident results are seen in initial sessions itself. Initial changes in hair density and quality are seen after 1-2 months of treatment. Changes will be assessed by comparing pre & post treatment photographs and non-invasive measurement of hair density at intervals of one month after the initial treatment.

THE SCIENCE OF STEM CELLS TREATMENT

Hair follicles that grow from stem cells with mesenchymal stem cells or MSCs are multi-potent stromal cells that can differentiate into a variety of cell types including: osteoblasts (bone cells), chondrocytes (cartilage), connective tissues and adipocytes (fat cells). Hair follicle papilla, which is a large structure at the base of the hair follicle bulb, is mainly made up of connective tissue and a capillary loop. As it is mainly a connective tissue, mesenchymal stem cells could play a role in the repair and re-genesis of the hair follicle papilla. Another aspect to be considered is that the hair follicle develops mainly from the dermis and is mesodermal in origin. Mesenchymal stem cells are also mesodermal in origin.

Discoveries in recent years have suggested that adult stem cells have the ability to differentiate into cell types from different germ layers. This phenomenon is referred to as stem cell trans-differentiation or plasticity.

Types of stem cells used for hair regeneration

Amniotic fluid derived stem cells (ASCEs): It has regenerative effect on hair and promotes hair growth. It eliminates inflammation in the hair root, strengthens it and activates hair cells. It regulates scalp sebum and nourishes hair. Adipose derived stem cells (ADSCs): It uses body’s own stem cells and cytokinase (cellular messengers) to repair tissue. These are pluripotent mesenchymal stem cells which helps in compensation of scalp defects, wound healing, cell renewal, hair growth and acts against hair whitening.

There are three accessible sources of autologous adult stem cells in humans:

Bone marrow that requires extraction by drilling the bone (typically the femur or iliac crest)

Blood, which requires extraction through pheresis; wherein blood sample is drawn from the donor (similar to a blood donation), passed through a machine that extracts the stem cells, and return other portions of the blood to the donor.

Adipose tissue (Fat cells) that requires extraction through liposuction

Stem cells can also be taken from umbilical cord blood just after birth. Of all methods of stem cell harvesting, autologous harvesting (cells obtained from one's own body) from Adipose tissue (fat cells) involves the least risk. Adipose tissue (fat cells) is one of the richest sources of MSCs. When compared, the count of stem cells present in one gram of fat is 500 times more than what exists in one gram of bone marrow.
